Choose Your Trailhead, and Go Adventure

I took some time off to hike and explore the raw beauty of Yellowstone National Park this week.

I will remind you it was not long ago that I literally could not walk on my own.

Now I am out climbing mountains, exploring the rugged and pristine Rocky Mountain high country, walking along the headwaters of the Yellowstone River, watching massive 2,000 pound bull bison move with astonishing agility and fly fishing in the prettiest country imaginable. All this while carrying everything I need to survive and be comfortable in my large backpack. I am strong, I am pain free, I am off the dangerous medication I took every day, and I am able to live the adventurous life that was taken away from me for years.

All it takes is a few mindful moments to sit and think about what my life would be like if I hadn’t connected with Peter Winslow of the AS Victors Association. It brings tears of joy to my eyes, and I simultaneously laugh and cry with love and gratitude for where I am today. It is scary to imagine where I could be if I hadn’t gotten the help I desperately needed.

Returning to vibrant health from the depths of AS has been the greatest gift I could ever imagine. Living with this level of gratitude is something many people will never understand, and that is the huge gift bestowed by the disease itself. It was worth every single minute and every single dollar I invested in coaching, reading and learning.

Anyone living with constant pain most likely dreams about what a priceless gift remission would be. I am here to verify that it is indeed just that, priceless!

When I was serious about my healing and had the help I needed, it didn't take all that long to make my goal of being pain free a reality. I now look back at that time as being one of the greatest periods in my life.

Now my family, my friendships, my relationship with myself and my relationship with the world around me are all different and so much better. It is incredible how far into the world my recovery has reached, and how so many people have found guidance and hope from hearing my story and listening to me speak about what I learned. Stories like mine are meant to be shared because within them they hold keys that open the door to a better life.

I would like to remind you that I did not do this all on my own. I had Peter there to teach me what I needed most, and he did so at the perfect time. This was invaluable and made all the difference.

The AS Victor movement has begun, and we are all part of a quickly growing population who is feeling better than ever. Get Ready to watch in amazement as more and more people realize they are not powerless over an Ankylosing Spondylitis diagnosis!

When you get onboard with mind/body wisdom the rules of health and healing change, and more power than you have ever realized not only comes into view, but falls directly into your hands. With this knowledge we can step away from victimhood and into becoming a Victor in our lives. Are you ready to let go of victimhood? I trust you are.

Progress always happens by those who think differently and are willing to keep searching until they find a way. Because the people at the ASVA never stopped their search for ways to help themselves, people like me can enroll to learn what is necessary to reach remission, and live the life we always dreamed - the life we thought AS would take away forever.

Thank you ASVA for being free thinkers in a world that is undoubtedly progressed by those who think differently. You have the courage to speak up and be heard about what you know, because you know it is valid. Groups like you are the ones who create new ideas, and ultimately through enough testimonials begin to transform the perception of what is commonly understood and believed as truth. In this case it is something as profound as creating a blueprint for intentional remission from the constant pain and suffering of Ankylosing Spondylitis symptoms. How amazing that is!

New destinations only become available to you when you choose to walk a new path.  New roads that are built to better places all have their roots in people walking a slightly different path from the rest.

As someone who has experienced so fully the truth that we are not powerless over AS, I encourage you now to choose a path that leads to genuine health - the path of the AS Victors.

I leave you with this – “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

- Margaret Mead
